Fully Catered Activity Weeks

For those wishing to sample the delights of Le Vieux Monastere and its beautiful surroundings we also provide fully catered activity holidays in May, June & September. Themed weeks may include painting, arts & crafts, wine tasting, walking, cycling and photography. Your hosts and course facilitators will be on hand to ensure that you have a creative and fun break.

French Treats Knitting Workshops

Our knitting workshops continue to be a resounding success.

We hosted two knitting workshop holidays in 2011 which both proved very popular. The 2012 events will mark our 7th year and we regard Le Vieux Monastere as the premier destination in France for knitting workshop holidays. Due to the ever-increasing popularity of our knitting workshops we are once again delighted to be able to offer a choice of workshop holiday dates in 2012. Both courses form part of an inclusive programme providing a complete and relaxing holiday experience.

10th - 17th June 2012 and 8th - 15th September 2012

“In 2012 we will be looking at a variety of Patchwork/modular knitting techniques, Bavarian twisted stitch patterns, textured stitches and different edgings” says Fiona. “For those of you who prefer to make projects rather than just knit samples, the stitch patterns will include a beret pattern and a fingerless mittens pattern and the Patchwork knitting can be made into a cushion cover or bag.”

French Treats Design Workshop
With John Allen, 25th May – 1st June 2012

We are delighted to be able to welcome John Allen here in 2012 for our first design course.


A Fellow of The Royal College of Art, John has a wealth of experience in textile design and has lectured and taught on the subject around the world. The course is aimed at crafts people who want to develop their design skills, no matter what their subject, and is suitable for both those with little or no design experience, or the more experienced student.

John believes that everyone has design talents and his belief in these natural talents is borne out by the standard of work produced by members of his design groups. John's students would say that without the stimulus of John's very special tutoring skills they would never have discovered or developed these natural talents.
